Enjoy the freedom to travel while keeping your home comforts close

With almost a quarter of a million motorhomes being used across the UK, you’re certainly not alone if you enjoy taking regular trips in your motorhome!

Motorhome owners love the convenience of being able to travel with their favourite things around them – but it’s important to make sure you have the insurance you need to cover you.

What’s the difference between a motorhome and a campervan?

The words motorhome and campervan are often used interchangeably, but there are a few differences:

  • Motorhomes are generally larger, with a separate cab, and built on a truck or bus chassis. It usually has facilities for cooking and washing and a separate sleeping area.
  • Campervans don’t usually have a separate cab. As they’re smaller, the facilities are generally more basic and may just cover cooking and sleeping. Find out more about the difference between campervan and motorhome insurance.

Levels of motorhome insurance cover

As with our Van Insurance, we offer three levels of cover for motorhomes:

Comprehensive

Comprehensive cover is the highest level we offer. It covers theft and damage caused by fire, damage to other drivers if you have an accident, and will pay out to repair or replace your motorhome if it's damaged in an accident or suffers malicious damage.

Third party, fire and theft

Third party, fire and theft covers damage caused by fire or theft but won’t protect you if your motorhome’s damaged in another way such as a crash – but if you’re involved in an accident, we’ll pay out to the other driver.

Third party only

This is the minimum level of cover required by law and protects you if you damage someone's property or injure them while driving. Third party only cover will also protect your passengers if they’re injured while in your motorhome. This level of insurance doesn’t cover theft or fire damage.
